I was watching TV the other night and I saw this Cadillac commercial that really caught my attention. It asked what did the Wright Brothers, Amazon, Hewlett-Packard, Disney, Mattel and the Ramones have in common? They all came out of a garage – the point being that you never know what American greatness can come from such humble beginnings!
So why did this catch my attention (besides that it’s really cool to think about these monster companies and their beginnings in an old garage)?
Our founder, Bill Pomeroy started out in 1978 and originally ran it out of his garage. He started with used IBM mainframe options (feature, channels, memory, etc.) and in 1980 created the CABLExpress division that focused on mainframe cables.
Now 30 years later, CABLExpress is a far cry from one man working out of his garage. There are close to 300 of us working here now. The CABLExpress division manufactures high-performance cabling and data center infrastructure products and structured cabling solutions.
Our Technology Certification and Distribution Center (85,000-square foot) houses our Dust Free Testing and Manufacturing Room.
An entrepreneurial spirit is instilled in us all. Our environment is conducive to innovation and change – we are big enough to make things happen, yet small enough to care. Guess that’s what comes starting from humble beginnings.
