As a leader in the enterprise cable industry since our inception three decades ago, we understand the importance of foresight into IT trends and technology. CABLExpress doesn't just accommodate your current needs - we anticipate the future. We keep you on top of cabling trends, and provide expertise on Skinny-Trunk® designs and solutions, to maximize your budget. With this in mind, you can rely on us to help you plan and design a data center infrastructure your entire enterprise can rely on today, and for years to come.
Two of the most common cabling methodologies to choose between are point-to-point and structured cable distribution. In point-to-point, individual machines directly attach to individual device ports with discreet jumper cables. Point-to-point topology may work for a small data center, but as hardware is added and redundant capacity increased, maintenance becomes extremely complicated and expensive. Structured cable distribution, which involves consolidating cables into trunks and patch panels, is more efficient and cost effective in the long run. ![]()
Connectivity: Wiring Trends in Optical Data Centers -

We take full advantage of advances in structured cable distribution, creating a Main Distribution Area (MDA) for your data center. The MDA centralizes all device ports and keeps them away from active equipment. Fiber optic MTP® trunks and patch panels eliminate the need to get under raised floors for every add, move or change. Only cables attached to a passive patch panel connection are moved. As you update hardware, instead of replacing entire trunks, only cassettes and harnesses need be changed. When you do need to replace or install new MTP trunks, their small diameters and low weight make running and organizing them a snap. Compared with standard trunk-tight buffer cables, MTP trunks can increase tray capacity by up to 66%. It's these philosophies, and more like them, that CABLExpress employs to help you get the most out of your data center. Give us a call to put our expertise to work for you and your cabling infrastructure. |
