Just returning from the BICSI show in Orlando I thought it would be a great time to review my thoughts on what is happening in the world of data center cabling.

This year in the area of MTP / MPO cable connectivity (an area CABLExpress has been a leader in since 1998) it was great to see the general acceptance of the MTP / MPO connector in the data center.  Several companies have announced or launched MTP / MPO cabling solutions in anticipation of rapid acceptance of the 40/100 standard.   CABLExpress was a leader in this area announcing a 40/100 solution in July of 2010 that was also backward compatible with it’s Skinny-Trunk ™  Solution.  It not only looks like the MTP / MPO connector is here to stay, but its roll in datacenters will continue to grow with an increased emphasis on performance.
