Far too often you hear those sad sad words.

“A cable is a cable.”

And then we end up taking calls from people who said this kind of thing… and have learned one way or another that that’s not the case.

Sure, sometimes a person needs to buy a few fiber jumper cable, so they just grab a quote or buy whatever seems to be the quickest, easiest way to get them.  Of course, that’s fine so long as the cable quality is good (we have people who call us all the time for this kind of thing).

No matter what the situation, sacrificing quality should not be an option. Sacrificing quality in your cabling can lead to all kinds of troubles, which in turn lead to less than optimal performance or downtime.

But what about other situations?

What about when a project calls for more than just buying a few patch cables? In those cases…

Just think about all of the the people who have complained about spaghetti?  Think about the cable nightmares you have heard about.  It’s a safe bet that these built up over time with that unfortunate attitude of “a cable is cable”.  Over time, cables were added in a point-to-point way with no long term plan, strategy or tactics.
